After graduating from at Chelsea School of Art with a degree in Sculpture, Claire has concentrated her career on creating unique contemporary stone carvings for the home and garden. She exhibits regularly, accepts public & private commissions and has taught in Adult Education for 30 years.

Using many varieties of stone - from pale translucent alabaster to crisp, hard edged limestones - .the works are primarily abstract in design featuring organic fluid forms.

Much of my work is inspired by the inherent shapes & colours contained in the materials, allowing the sculptures to emerge and develop throughout the carving. I enjoy exploring contrasting themes – one piece can express dynamic movement & flow while another focuses in on a stillness & calm

The sense of the elemental as you begin to cut into an ancient piece of stone can deeply stir the creative process.
